The Discovery of the Important City Site of Longshan Period at Xinmi City in Henan

 

AbstractThe walled town at Guchengzhai, Xinmi County was the largest one of the Longshan Period in the central Plains area, and the body of the wall was the best preserved in the same time in the whole China. The large-sized palace foundation and the construction surrounded with porches are very few in the walled sites of that time. So the finds provide very important data for the research of Xia Culture, the origin of ancient Chinese civilization, the formation of states and the origin and development of walled sites in China.

On the Miaodigou Type Culture

 

Abstract: By comparing and analyzing the cultural factors, this paper tries to redefine the distribution area of Miaodigou type culture. The author thinks that Miaodigou is a local cultural type of the Hua-wei Cultural zone, its major distribution area were the west Henan, south-west and middle of Shanxi Province, in the mean time, the Quanhu Type culture distributed in the Guanzhong area. The area between Zhengzhou and Luoyang, the Basin of Nanyang, the north-west Hubei, and the south and middle inner Mogolia were not occupied by Miaodigou Type culture.

A Preliminary Research on the Jade Plates

Abstract: The jade plates were used as baldrics on the waist straps by the Emperors and Nobles from Tang to Ming Dynasties, and were symbols of ranks and positions. This paper carry out a comprehensive analysis to the shapes, patterns of decorations and techniques of engrave of the plates of the different stages.

On the Prehistorical Agriculture based on Rice in Henan Province

Abstract: Many rice remains have been unearthed from prehistoric sites in the drainage areas of Danjiang, Huai and even the Yellow Rivers in Henan Province. Plentiful data shows that these rice were locally planted in Henan Province and the area between Huai and Yellow Rivers was a millet and rice mixed-growing area at that time.

On Decorating Parts of Jade on the Lacquerware of Shang Dynasty Excavated at Xingan

Abstract: Three pieces of tiger shaped jade foot and four pieces of jade flake with drilled holes and protruding ridges were unearth from the famous Shang Tomb at Dayangzhou, Xingan County. The author thinks that they should be the feet and decoration parts of the disappeared lacquerwork of the same tomb, and he then tries to restore the techniques used to inlay them into the lacquerwork.

On the Official Seals System of Song Dynasty

Abstract: In Song Dynasty, the official seals system had been very mature after a long process of development. Shaofujian and Wensiyuan are the special institutions in charge of the casting of seals, some regular rules were adopted, and the new inventions of putting designs on the back of seals and the application of double characters, were continually used by the late times, and have important influences on the developments on the seals system.

The development and of Sectional Tiles with Cloud Pattern in Luoyang Area

Abstract: Sectional tiles are a kind of construction materials, the shapes of the tiles and the decoration patterns on the sections changed in times, so they are a reliable indication of times of the connected sites or buildings in archaeological research. This article tries to draw out the development rules of the tiles by a comprehensive collection and research on the tiles belong to East Zhou to Wei-Jin period unearthed in Luoyang area.

A Preliminary Research on the Bronze Cultures of Zhou Dynasty in North Hebei Province

The North Hebei Province is a very important part in the Northern Chinese cultural zone, the remains of bronze culture on Zhou Dynasty are plentiful. The bronze artifacts unearthed in this area can be divided into five groups, separately represented by the Baifu tomb in Changping, Xibazi pit in Yanqing, Dongnangou site in Pingquan, East Zhou graveyard at Jundushan, Yanqing, and the No. 4 and No. 5 kinds of archaeological remains at Baimiao, Zhangjiakou. The former four groups belong to the cultures of northern people, and the fifth was the remains of the Yan Culture belong to the Central Plains system. The fourth group is the most complicated, it should be created by the Di ethnic group.

On the Music Instrument Performance in Stone Relief of Han Dynasty

Abstract: This paper carries out a study on the descriptions of instrument music performance in the figured stone of Han Dynasty. By careful image observation, the author tries to define the kinds of music instruments, explain the compositional position and the usage methods of the instruments, trace the development history of some special instruments, etc.. Many opinions are new inventions.
