On the Hierarchy of Epitaphs in Northern Wei Period Zhao Chao
Abstract: By analysing the extant epitaphs of Northern Wei, the article
reveals the hierarchy of epitaphs in Northern Wei period and explains
some special examples according to three different kinds of measures used
in Northern Wei period. After Sui dynasty, the rules of epitaph were followed
these rules in this period or modified based on them.

Abstract: No.8 tomb at Penjingyuan in Sanmenxia city is a coffin tomb
in the early Warring States period. The unearthed burial articles are
15 pieces including bronze ding tripod, bronze dou, bronze hu, belt hook,
jade ornament, jade cong, bone hairpin, etc.

Confirmation of Xinzhai Period and the Significance Zhao Qingchun
Abstract: By re-excavating the Xinzhai site, we found the relation of
overlapping layers of the third period of Wangwan culture, Xinzhai period
and early Erlitou culture ruins, confirmed the existance of Xinzhai period
and testified Erlitou culture appeared based on the local Longshan culture
again. Even if Xinzhai period culture is not the earliest Xia culture,
it is a new key to seeking early Xia culture.

On Restoring the Design on the Lid of Incomplete Vessel in Xinzhai Period

Abstract: By restoring the design on the lid of incomplete vessel unearthed
in the Xinzhai site, we found the restored design is similar to the design
of beast mask with high crown in jade gui collected by the palace museum
in Taibei. The design with distinct epochal character has the important
academic value of researching the origin of the bronze plaque ornament
of Erlitou period and the design of beast mask with high crown .

Investigation of the Xia Culture Ruins at Yulin Area in Shaanxi Lu Zhirong
Abstract: According to the current archaeological material, the article
analyses the Xia culture ruins at Yulin area in Shaanxi, investigated
its cultural factors and origin and put forward the new ideas on the cultural
character of the area.

Abstract: The ruins of the first period of Erlitou culture, mainly origins
from the local the third period of Wangwan culture, can be further divided
into the early and later periods. The ruins of Xinzhai period belonging
to the early first period of Erlitou culture is called Xinzhai type of
the first period of Erlitou culture. The ruins of the first period of
Erlitou culture belongs to the early Xia ruins.

Questions of Bronze Plaque with Beast Mask Design Unearthed in Tianshui

Abstract: The bronze plaque inlaid with turquoise unearthed at Tianshui
in Gansu and those bronze plaques unearthed at Erlitou site in Yanshi
have the similar form, style and design. Analysing the other similar articles
unearthed in two areas, the author thinks the Central Plains and Northwestern
area had mutual cultural exchange in Xia dynasty, and Tianshui area could
be the ties of cultural exchange between the Central Plains and Sichuan
area.

Abstract: Some contents of carved stones of Han dynasty such as sacrificial
rites of yu and she, and exposing witch to the sun, God Hebo harnessing
river, driving out demons and diseases, and immortal Taoists curing the
sickness recorded the facts of drought, waterlogging and pestilence disasters
in Han dynasty. The different contents and styles stressed by carved stones
in different areas are related to the different local cultural and disaster
background.

On "Yi "and "Dong Yi" Luan Fengshi
Abstract: "Dong Yi" referred to the ancient people recorded
in the historical documents lived in the eastern area of China. In recent
years the tribes living at Haidai area in the lower reaches of Huang and
Huai rivers are called as Dong Yi by more and more scholars because of
the developing of archaeology. The article discusses the appearance, development
and disappearance of "Yi" and "Dong Yi" people according
to the correlative historical documents.

Abstract: By summing up the bronzes with human and beast design in Western
Zhou period and comparing them with the bronzes with the same design in
Shang dynasty, The article thinks that the meanings of the design distinctly
changed from the symbol of religion in Shang dynasty to the symbol of
military power in Western Zhou dynasty.
