In July 1937, the War of
Resistance against Japan broke out and about 6000 pieces of its collections were
transported from Kaifeng City to Chongqing City, Sichuan Province. During the war, the museum was known as Henan Provincial
Museum. Part of its collections were damaged.
In 1949, about 5000 pieces of its collections were selected
and transferred from Chongqing to Taiwan. After the establishment of the People's Republic of China, Henan Museum,
thanks to its extremely advantageous locality and the favorable circumstances, gradually
restored its vitality.
