Some stone implements of Paleolithic Stage were found in Huafengxiang, Yuanqu, Shanxi Province, and provided some new clues to the research of the ancient environment, the activity of human being and their culture in this area.
SOME QUESTIONS ON THE
“STATE MONARCHS” IN THE INSCRIPTIONSON BRONZE AND LITERATURES OF WEST ZHOU DYNASTY

The
“state monarchs” in the inscriptions on bronze and literatures of West Zhou Dynasty is a general term to the heads of all the states by Zhou people in the beginning of the Dynasty, in the mean time, the Zhou people call the heads of the alliance states of the different clans “monarchs of friendly states”. After the adoption of the feudal system, “state monarchs” are a kind of very important political roles as the vassals of the Dynasty, but they kept their owns official system in their owns states.
SOME PROBLEMS ON
“GUAN” SACRIFICE CEREMONYLI HAIRONG
The author agree some people call
“guan” sacrifice by “fu” sacrifice, but he does not agree that this ceremony was only carried out in the first year of the new Kings, he thinks that it can also be hold in the last year of the past kings or the second year of the new kings. The bronze vessels which inscriptions recorded this ceremony should be in same age with the ceremony or later than the ceremony.

In the ancient Chinese legends, many important inventions of science and technology such as agriculture, making of pottery, weaving, metallurgy, construction, transportation, astronomy, mathematics, medicine etc.. This paper thinks that Yangshao Culture provide the proper time-space frameworks and some material evidence for tracing these legends.
BRIEF REPORT OF THE EXCAVATION OF FRESCO TOMB
OF SONG DYNASTY IN XIAHEZHUANG, XINMI
THE MUNICIPAL ARCHAEOLOGICAL INSTITUTE OF ZHENGZHOU
In May of 1999, an octagonal tomb was unearthed in Xiahezhuang, Xinmi. The camber has an assembled top space with the decoration of typical Chinese supporters
“dougong”. The frescos are scratchy but very meaningful when compared with that of the middle and late Song period. Beside cooking and everyday life, the contents of the fresco also includes some descriptions related with the monks and mummers. The excavator judges this tomb belong to the turning period of Song and Jin Dynasties.
BRIEF REPORT OF THE EXCAVATION OF FRESCO TOMB

In January of 1998, a fresco tomb belong to Jiajing Reign of Ming Dynasty was discovered, and there are four piece of wall paintings in the tomb. These paintings described the after-life lives of the host in the underground world, the scenes are magnificent and the colors are beautiful, the figures in the painting are just as true-life. So it
’s very valuable in art history.
THE MEDICINE TREATMENT AND SANITATION CONDITION
OF THE SOLDIERS IN THE JUYAN GARRISON OF HAN DYNASTY

Juyan is a frontier site in the Han Dynasty, the environment is very bad, but the medicine treatment and sanitation condition of the site is very good. The incidence of a disease is only 4.28%, and among them, 77.65% can be cured correctly. This good condition is the result of treasuring the life of soldiers of the administration, but it also has a direct relationship with the well established medicine treatment system in the garrison.

The Shang and Zhou people established the Dynasties by large-scale wars, so it
’s easy to understand the breaking change in the archaeological cultures between the two. The emergence of Xia Dynasty is the result of social development, so it’s impossible to observe any discontinuity in the archaeological culture. The thought to equal a new archaeological culture with the establishment of Xia Dynasty can not be accepted from both theory and practice.
